start to study at 6.30 am

On 5th January 2009, the government of DKI Jakarta declaimed the new regulation of school time. All of the students in Jakarta supposed to be at school at 06.30 am. The reason why the government declaimed this new regulation is to avoid and decrease the traffic jam in the morning. Because based on a fact that school students are 15% of the donate of the traffic jam and Jakarta is the center of the school destination for the cities around Jakarta and Jakarta itself. School students are also the easiest society to be arrange. To remember that the government ways to handle the traffic jam problem are already off the limit. So the slow moving of development of public transportation and high level of ride possession that hard to control made this regulation to move the school time is the most rational and easiest solving problem.

This regulation has some effect of to the school students. The positive sides are to built the discipline personality of the students, they comeback home earlier, so they will have more time to do other activities and will not miss the dawn prayer for Moslems. The negative sides are students will get stress in the morning, they will be easily to get sick, feel sleepy and not concentrate to receive the lessons at school, and decrease their sleep time. There is some several ways to solve the problems. First, to avoid stress in the morning, feel sleepy and not concentrate to receive the lessons at school, and less sleep time we should sleep earlier than what they usually do. Second, to reduce the possibility to easily get sick we should eat a nutritious food and support with vitamin.

Our opinion about this new regulation is it seems quiet useless. Because it’s just replacing the traffic jam schedule earlier, which mean it didn’t touch the main problem. It appear on the students who coming to school earlier, are still caught by traffic jam. Beside that, this new regulation is kind of manipulate the students. As you know, students are the weakest society and the most easily to be order by the government, because students can not scream their voice out loud to fight the government conclusion.

If we want to talk about the efficiency of education, a half hour earlier would not impact to much. So, our advice is that the government should consider to order the work time of PNS too. Because the efficiency of their working time will be much higher and more usable for the country and especially, Jakarta itself than from the students. The other things that should to be consider too is the applying of school attendance zone in the new students acceptance. This system will limit the students on their school choices. The priority will be given to the students who lives in the same several regions nearby the school. This applying will also reduce the duration of the students from their house to school. In the next time, there is also needed the professional coordination in Jakarta to support the development of qualified school in the cities around Jakarta. So their citizen does not have to send their child to get their education in Jakarta and reduce the road load in Jakarta.
